Chemotherapy Death
Not many people survive through cancer because the disease comes back in most cases; even after it is completely cured. If cancer is detected at a later stage, it becomes incurable. In such cases, medications are given to prolong the patient’s life for some time. Death in such cases is quite certain. Chemotherapy aims at killing all the cancer cells in the body, leading the patient towards a healthy life. Death during chemotherapy happens only if the cancer is incurable. However, in some rare cases, doctor’s negligence in prescribing the right drugs could play a part leading to patient’s death. Many cancer patients these days are going away from chemotherapy but one should remember that patients die because of cancer and not because of chemotherapy. Chemotherapy just aims at to lead the patient towards a life with less pain from the cancer and prolong the life. In some cases, it does work very well. People should not be scared for going through chemotherapy, as it sometimes gives side effects to the patients.
There have been instances in the past when cancer patients have died because of taking drugs that were not prescribed correctly by the doctors. When such cases were being investigated, there were no documents or prescription paper work to prove what caused the fatal error. The question here arises that, who should be held responsible for the death of these patients? Although, cancer patients suffer gravely with the disease, the disease can be cured, and in some cases, patients have completely come out of it. Chemotherapy success rates are gradually increasing as well.
In a culture where you are held responsible for even accidently killing a fellow human being, it is interesting to know that doctors and pharmacists are off the hook for their negligence towards their profession.
Apart from the negligence, most cancer patients are aware that chemotherapy is not the end for their distress. They avoid chemotherapy treatments as it comes with many side effects. Although chemotherapy cures the cancer, in most cases but the possibility of the cancer coming back is very common. It is for reason that cancer patients avoid chemotherapy or any other treatments. Chemotherapy effectiveness is decided through many things such as dose and length of the chemotherapy treatment.
We agree that chemotherapy can make a patient feel nauseated. It makes their hair fall, degrades the immune system, causes bleeding complications, and damages the kidney, heart lungs, and the nerves. It can make one lose weight and can even result in death if major complications arise. However, if chemotherapy fights the cancer in your body and in return gives so many side effects, one could imagine how dreadful the disease is?
It is much better than dying of untreated cancer. The pain and agony that cancer patients would experience could grow three folds if the patients do not treat the cancer. Cancer does not give up. It keeps coming back. Chemotherapy is definitely an answer to most of the agony cancer patient’s face. Although chemotherapy can lead to death, you never know; if the treatment goes well, you might be one of the lucky ones who have survived cancer.
