Consuming nutritional food should be every individual’s motto. However, a world where junk food has taken over the palates of most of the people, nutritional food does not hold much value in the lives of everyone. However, patients undergoing chemotherapy cannot afford to live with this fact. In fact, not just the ones undergoing chemotherapy but it is also very important to stick to a healthy diet for a person suffering from any other ailment. The food groups mentioned below are considered to be healthy in any diet plan. However, it also emphasizes on the different kinds of foods and herbs that could be taken while undergoing chemotherapy.

  • Fresh fruits and vegetables are a great source of essential vitamins and minerals. They contain antioxidants that help fight cancer. Depending on the comfort of the patient, it could be consumed raw, in the form of juice or well cooked.
  • The next category includes foods enriched in proteins. This mostly includes meat and dairy products such as chicken, fish, turkey, yogurt, milk, cottage cheese, eggs, tofu etc. Protein is a very essential ingredient required by the body to fight infection, to retain strength and energize the body. The products mentioned here also are a great source of calcium and essential vitamins.
  • The last major category of food consists of grains which are a great source of carbohydrates and Vitamin B. It includes cereals, bread, rice, pasta etc.
