Ozone Treatment for Cancer
Ozone treatment for cancer is one of the newly researched ways for treating cancer. This therapy is still being researched for, and hence is not commonly used for the treatment of any kind of cancer. According to most of the scientists, ozone has very good healing characteristics.
Reaction of Ozone with Cancerous Cells
Ozone is an unstable gas made of 3 molecules of oxygen. As it is made of 3 molecules, this gas is always looking for ways to become stable and convert itself into oxygen. Hence, it is a good oxidizing agent that donates its one molecule to attain stability. This gas, when enters the body of the patient works to attain stability. In this process, starts reacting with the healthy and cancerous cells present around. Cancerous cells being anaerobic in nature are killed when they are exposed to oxygen. This trick is used by the scientists to kill the cancerous cells present in the patient’s body. Another peculiarity of ozone is that it alkalizes the cells present in the patient’s body and then kills the cancerous cells. Also, the cancerous cells cannot withstand oxidation or alkylation, thus they are killed in the process.
Procedure for Ozone Treatment for Cancer
There are two major ways in which ozone is given to the patient. One is the ozone IV technique and the other is the ozone RHP technique.
- Infusion Bottle technique: In this method, some blood is collected from the patient’s body in a bottle and saturated is ozone is passed through it and then mixed thoroughly. After this is done, the oxygen rich blood is then inserted in the patient’s body intravenously.
- Ozone RHP technique: In this method, the ozone is passed in a gas form through a machine into the bloodstream (again mostly done intravenously). Once in the body, this gas reacts with the cancer cells and kills them.
Whichever procedure is followed, ozone treatment for cancer can be given twice on daily or weekly basis. This depends on the extent to which the cancerous cells have spread inside the body of the patient and how well the patient’s body reacts to the proposed form of treatment. Accordingly, the duration for completion of the treatment also varies from months to years.
Misconceptions and the Risks Involved
Ozone is considered to be a dangerous gas to breathe. However, pure or medical grade ozone is not. The ozone present in the atmosphere is mixed with nitrogen and other gases, which increases the danger factor. Also in this case the patient does not breathe ozone it is inserted intravenously in the patient’s body. Another considered risk factor is that when ozone is inserted into the blood stream, there are chances that it can block the main artery that connects the lungs to the other parts of the body. However, if pure ozone is inserted then no such thing happens. This happens when the ozone being inserted is mixed with nitrogen.
One more major risk involved when using ozone for the treatment of cancer is that the combination of ozone and DMSO is fatal. Hence, doctors generally do not prefer giving ozone treatment if any of the drugs being given during the cancer treatment contain DMSO.
Side Effects of Ozone Treatment for Cancer
Though ozone is a safe gas and can be used effectively for the treatment of cancer, there are some side effects that the patients suffer from. Some people complain of nausea, tiredness, fever, sore lungs and coughing. Ozone rash is also observed if it is applied to the ears, in some cases. Also, in a few other cases, this rash can even appear on the other parts of the skin.
Though ozone treatment for cancer is safe and can cure almost all types of cancer effectively, scientists are not yet sure about its long term effects and hence it is not being used as one of the commonly used or traditional methods for the treatment of cancer. Most of the people diagnosed with cancer is synonym with all about chemotherapy. However, researchers are trying to establish the effectiveness of such unconventional treatment options to cure this deadly disease.
